The capital of Santiago is a very stylish city that deserves to be explored. It has the best nighlife of the country, most of the cultural institutions and some of the finest restaurants. It is a great base from where you can visit the beach resorts around Valparaiso as well as make some fantastic hiking trips in the high Andes. Chile offers some of the easiest ascents to mountains above 6.000 meters in the world. 

Travelling north will eventually take you to the Atacama Desert in the vast open expanses of the Norte Grande which has not seen rain for over 170 years and its mysterious petroglyphs and hot springs. The far south meanwhile offers the opportunity to explore the incredible beauty of gigantic glaciers, the rish array of wildlife including birds, seals, sealions and whales in the Magallanes and Tierra del Fuego.
